  9. This a collection of stock Quicktime movie for the Macintosh and Windows environments.
  10. All video clips for World of Motion were taken directly from Betacam SP master tapes, 
  11. and digitized at 12 frames per second. Some clips also have audio.  
  12. The video segments contained on World of Motion were supplied by:
  13. Arden Films and Video, Inc., 
  14. of Wilmington, DE. 
  15. In business for over 25 years, Arden has collected a large library 
  16. of broadcast-quality stock footage, including footage from around the world. 
  17. The clips on World of Motion represent just a small portion of this footage.

  28. Getting Started:      Insert the CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive.
  29.  
  30.       Macintosh:
  31. If you do not have QuickTime 1.6 installed, you need to install the 
  32. QuickTime 1.6 provided on this CD-ROM by dragging the QuickTime file to 
  33. your system folder and restarting.
  34. Double click on the "World of motion" icon.
  35.  
  36.      Windows:
  37. From the Windows Program manager's menu choose run and 
  38. TYPE: "[drive]:\install"   (where drive is the letter of your CD-ROM drive, 
  39. if your CD-ROM drive is something other than D use that letter instead.)

  41.      How to use World of motion
  42. The main menu screen provides a selection of topics to choose from
  43. Click a category button to change to that category ( i.e. ABSTRACTS).
  44.  
  45. You will now see the menu for that category.  Choose a movie you wish to view
  46. and click on it's button.  You are now at the player window, click on play to 
  47. start the movie.  When the movie is finished you may play it again or move on 
  48. to a different movie.
  49. You can use the right and left arrows also to move from one movie to another.

  51. All of the World of motion categories are also accessible through the menu bar 
  52. located at the top of the screen.

  54. The World of Motions movies are in the folders (directories) with corresponding 
  55. names ( Abstracts Movies).

  57. The text in "World of motion" is available in files that can be accessed by your 
  58. word processor!

  60.      See the file "FileList.txt"
  61.      Macintosh: open the "Mac_txt" folder.
  62.      Windows: open Filelist.wri located inthe Windows Directory on the CD-ROM.

  64.      The text contains the listing of sounds by categories.  There is also a 
  65.      listing of the sounds with their full path name, so that you can easily 
  66.      find the sounds outside of the given interface.

  69. Issues
  70. Equipment/software needed or recommended:
  71.      Macintosh:
  72.         - 256 (8 bit) color or better color display
  73.         - QuickTime 1.6 (on CD-ROM) installed
  74.         - Mac II, LC or better (68020 microprocessor or better).
  75.         - System 6.0.7 or higher
  76.         - 4 megabytes free RAM required.
  77.         - 13" monitor display

  79.      PC/Windows:
  80.         - DOS 5.0
  81.         - Windows 3.1
  82.         - 386 or better PC
  83.         - Sound Board and speakers
  84.         - 256 (8 bit) or less
  85.         -4 megabytes free RAM required.
  86. QuickTime 1.6/1.1 is included.

  88. 8 bit display (256 colors):
  89.        All the images are in an 8 bit format in the "World of motion" software.

  91. Trouble Shooting:
  92.       The movies don't play.
  93.              Make sure that you have the latest version of QuickTime installed
  94.              Macintosh 1.6, Windows 1.1. They are both provided on the CD-ROM.
  95.        The sounds don't play.
  96.              Macintosh: Make sure that your sound control panel is not off.
  97.              Windows:  You need a sound board. 
  98.              Are the speakers/headphones connected and on?
  99.        The software doesn't fit on my screen.
  100.              You need at least a 13" display (640x480) to view the entire 
  101.               picture.
  102.        White and black blotches on my screen.
  103.           The images and sounds used in this software require large quantities of 
  104.           RAM at time.  If the program is unable to load all of the images 
  105.           needed into RAM for one screen, it may "blank" the images from the 
  106.           screen or cause sounds to be cut short of their full play.   
  107.           The problem may be resolved by quitting any other applications that may 
  108.           be running or by adding more RAM to your machine. 
  109.        Strange characters appear on my screen.
  110.            On the PC, if your video driver is not set to 8bits, Director Player for Windows
  111.            will run into compatibility problems.  Be sure to set your video driver to 
  112.            8 bits (640x480x256).
